The Southern Vipers made it two wins out of two in the Kia Super League as they came away from sunny Blackpool with an 11-run victory over a below par Lancashire Thunder.Despite being without their talismanic skipper Charlotte Edwards the Vipers recovered from 34 for 3 to reach 132 for 4 from their 20 overs with the score proving just enough against the slightly unlucky hosts.Having chosen to bat, the Vipers were quickly in trouble when opener Georgia Adams was bowled by the sixth ball of the innings as Hayley Matthews got one to turn sharply and hit the stumps.Captain Suzie Bates soon followed when she slapped another Matthews delivery straight to Natalie Brown at point for 15 and when Izzy Collis edged behind off Deandra Dottin’s first delivery, the Thunder looked to be well on top.But Sara McGlashan had other ideas as the New Zealand international steadily rebuilt the innings with the help of Arran Brindle who offered valuable support as McGlashan went through the gears after Lydia Greenway had departed for 11.McGlashan hit the one six of the innings as she slapped the unfortunate Kate Cross back over her head with the New Zealander reaching her 50 off 48 balls in the final over with Brindle remaining unbeaten on 29.The unbeaten partnership of 70 for the fifth wicket left the Vipers with a spring in their step and they carried the momentum into their bowling when Matthews departed in the first over after hitting a Morna Nielsen full toss straight at Brindle at mid-on.A topsy turvy game then swung in Thunder’s direction as Emma Lamb and skipper Amy Satterthwaite compiled a second-wicket partnership worth 57 before Satterthwaite picked out McGlashan on the boundary off Linsey Smith for 31.With Lamb still at the crease Thunder looked to have a chance but when she was run out for 34 going for a suicidal run after hitting the ball straight to Nielsen the game was all but up for the home side.Danielle Wyatt impressed with a 28-ball 29 as she and Laura Newton dragged Thunder to within range but with 18 required off the last over it was all but finished as Bates picked up two late wickets to finish with 2 for 20 and the hosts needing two wins from their remaining games if they are to progress.

Australia A bowlers set up crushing win

Australia A bundled out South Africa A for 134 in Mackay, before romping home to an eight-wicket win with more than 30 overs to spare

Australia A bundled out South Africa A for 134 in Mackay, and then romped to an eight-wicket win with more than 30 overs to spare. The victory left them second on the points table, in position to push for a berth in the final against India A.After Australia A opted to bowl, Chris Tremain swiftly set about justifying that decision with the early wickets of Heino Kuhn and Theunis de Bruyn, reducing South Africa A to 2 for 18 in the seventh over.Khaya Zondo (40) and David Miller (25) rebuilt with a 53-run partnership, but they were dismissed within four overs of each other to leave South Africa A in trouble again. The trouble was compounded soon when Kane Richardson had Dane Vilas and Dwaine Pretorius caught behind for single-digit scores as the tourists were tottering at 6 for 88. Qaasim Adams (27) and Andile Phehlukwayo (22) provided the second partnership of any substance, putting on 36 off 52 for the seventh wicket. But Cameron Boyce ensured that the rebuilding phase did not last too long. The last four wickets fell in the space of 10 runs to Boyce’s legspin as South Africa A were bowled out in 42.1 overs.Much like South Africa A, the hosts lost their openers early and found themselves 2 for 32 in the sixth over. Thereafter, though, captain Chris Lynn and Glenn Maxwell made short work of the chase, sharing an unbeaten third-wicket stand of 104 off 79 to take Australia A past the target in the 19th over. Lynn ended with 56 off 51, while Maxwell scored a blistering 46 off 31 to add to his fine bowling analysis of 1 for 36 off 10 overs. The result meant South Africa A needed a bonus point win in their last league match, against National Performance Squad, to have any chance of making the final.

24-y/o Arsenal Star Criticised Despite Stellar Season

Joao Felix would start ahead of Martin Odegaard for Arsenal, presenter Lee Gunner has sensationally claimed.

How has Odegaard performed for Arsenal?

The Norweigan has had a sensational campaign under Mikel Arteta, scoring 15 goals in the league as Arsenal battled to a second-placed finish, and the Gunners' captain was one of his side's standout performers.

However, it has now been claimed that Atletico Madrid attacker Joao Felix, who had a disappointing loan spell at Chelsea for the second half of this season, should be signed to start ahead of him.

Speaking on The Football Terrace, the presenter claimed that Odegaard did not score enough in big games, and when asked, he stated that he would drop the former Real Madrid man for Felix.

"Odegaard. People will say 'but he scored 15 goals', name one big team he scored against, one decent team this season he scored against. Newcastle, I'll give you that, other than that, what has he done?

"Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, teams like that, he doesn't score against the big teams. I'll take Felix at Arsenal in a heartbeat. And not only that, even when you say when they're all fit, we're trying to build a squad. Why can't Odegaard have a player challenge him?

"Why can't [Gabriel] Jesus or Eddie [Nketiah] have another player challenging? Why can't [Gabriel] Martinelli or [Bukayo] Saka have players challenging? People are saying I'm nuts, I couldn't care less at the end of the day. If Odegaard gets injured, we're putting Fabio Vieira in, are you telling me he's better than Joao Felix?"

Is Odegaard better than Joao Felix?

There is currently a huge contrast between Odegaard and Felix in both performance levels and status.

Joao Felix headers the ball for Chelsea as they face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Odegaard has thrived since taking over as Arsenal captain last summer, and the former wonderkid has had the most productive season of his career, with 15 goals and 8 assists in 45 games across all competitions.

Felix, who earns a reported £195k per week, was loaned to Chelsea in January after a fallout with Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, and hardly pulled up any trees at Chelsea, with his four goals in 20 appearances failing to lift them from their stupor.

Chelsea have now decided that they will not keep Felix beyond his loan, and his future is up in the air again. Whilst he could be a useful addition to Arsenal's squad if reasonably priced, he has not shown enough in his performances or mentality to warrant replacing the Norway captain in the Arsenal lineup.

Mixture of anxiety and uncertainty before BCCI's SGM

Following the Supreme Court’s warning to the BCCI to follow the directive to implement the Lodha reforms, the board’s defiance seems to have given way to anxiety ahead of the SGM on Friday

Nagraj Gollapudi and Arun Venugopal 29-Sep-20162:25

Lodha proposes, BCCI disposes

Following the Supreme Court’s warning to the BCCI to “fall in line” and follow the directive to implement the Lodha Committee’s recommendations, the board’s defiance seems to have given way to a mixture of anxiety and uncertainty a day before its crucial special general meeting on Friday in Mumbai. The agenda for the SGM, the BCCI had pointed out last week, would be to “consider directions of Justice (Retd) Lodha Committee in connection with the formal adoption of the new Memorandum of Association and Rules for the BCCI.”The court asked the BCCI to respond within a week to the status report submitted by the Lodha Committee on Wednesday. If the BCCI fails to adopt the new Memorandum of Association and Rules at Friday’s meeting, the board risks facing further flak from the court. The BCCI could wait for the court to issue a directive based on the board’s response to the status order, but either way there were not many options left for the BCCI, keeping in mind the two sets of timelines drawn by the Lodha Committee, the first of which will expire on Friday, September 30.A number of board members ESPNcricinfo spoke to admitted to being clueless about the BCCI’s next course of action, and said it would be chalked out by president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke at the SGM. An experienced administrator termed it a “crisis”, but said it was not the end of the road for the BCCI. He felt if the court did not budge, it was time for a new wave of administrators to take charge.A BCCI office-bearer said the board was looking to drag things for as long as it could. “You should understand one thing: whatever needs to be done, we’ll do it,” he said. “The affidavit [filed by the BCCI] is just to prolong things as far as possible.”Some members were, however, wary of the aggressive stance taken by the Lodha Committee and the Supreme Court. The president of a south zone association said the BCCI’s response had to be measured, and people needed to be “careful” about what they said.Another office-bearer of the board, meanwhile, faulted the confrontational approach adopted by the BCCI so far, and said the members of the board were not apprised of relevant developments. “Nobody is kept in the loop. Only president and secretary know what’s happening,” he said. “The BCCI has always been [president and secretary-centric]; that’s the problem we have. All the members could have actually interacted individually with the Lodha Committee, but that was denied. From the beginning itself it has been derailed and we have never got an opportunity to put it on track. From there on, things are messed up.”Ever since the court approved the Lodha recommendations on July 18, the BCCI has resolutely opposed them. The main recommendations the BCCI does not agree with are the cooling-off period after a three-year term, imposing an age cap of 70 for administrators, and having an official of the Comptroller and Auditor General on the proposed Apex Council. The proposed Apex Council is itself contentious as it would replace the existing, and powerful, working committee and the one-state-one-vote proposal, which would bring Mumbai, Maharashtra, Vidarbha. Gujarat, Saurashtra and Baroda under one cluster and limit their voting power to just one vote by rotation. Most state associations, too, have continued to wait for the BCCI’s direction on amending their constitutions. So far, only the Vidarbha Cricket Association has decided to put to vote whether the Lodha recommendations can be adopted by the September 30 deadline set by the committee in its first set of timelines. From being unresponsive at the beginning to openly critical of the Lodha Committee, the BCCI has pursued a combative strategy. Last week, it asked three former India captains, Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev – all hired by the board as television commentators – to back its stance and ask the Lodha Committee to modify some of the recommendations through a dialogue. However, RM Lodha, the chairman of the Lodha Committee, made it clear that there can’t be any dialogue.”Our recommendations have merged with the July 18 judgment after the Supreme Court accepted them and ordered their implementation,” Lodha told the . “The recommendations are part of the judgment. Any attempt to impede implementation of the reform recommendations would be construed as non-implementation of the judgment itself.”

West Ham United Lining Up Move For "Special" £28k-p/w Attacker

West Ham United are lining up a loan move for Manchester United attacker Amad Diallo, according to a recent report from The Northern Echo.

Who is Amad Diallo?

Man United agreed a deal to sign Diallo from Atalanta for £19m back in the January of 2021, with former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer describing him as "one of the most exciting young prospects in the game."

Solksjaer also added that the 20-year-old has the "raw attributes" to become an "important player" for the Red Devils, however he has been sent out on loan to gain some first-team experience, making a name for himself at Sunderland last season.

The Ivory Coast international played a vital role for the Mackems in their unexpected push for the Championship play-offs, making a total of 37 appearances, and he has now attracted the interest of West Ham.

According to a report from The Northern Echo, the Hammers are lining up a loan move for the young forward, who could be sent out on loan again next season, in order to continue his development.

The Irons hierarchy are planning a summer overhaul of a squad that struggled in the Premier League in the 2022-23 campaign, but they are not the only club interested in the former Sunderland loanee, with Everton and Burnley also said to be keen.

The Black Cats would love to sign the youngster, however they can only offer him Championship football, which is likely to hinder their chances.

How many goals has Diallo scored?

The starlet scored 14 goals in all competitions last season, the highest number of any Sunderland player, most often being utilised on the right-wing, however he displayed his versatility by filling in at both attacking midfield and striker.

It is fair to say the £28k-per-week attacker made a positive impression on loan at Sunderland, with journalist Josh Bunting hailing him as "special", while also describing him as a "joy to witness" and "one of the best players" they've had in years.

Sunderland forward Amad Diallo.

The Man United ace is also more than capable of pitching in defensively, ranking in the 94th percentile for interceptions per 90 over the past year, when compared to his positional peers playing at a similar level.

Having performed so well in the Championship last season, Diallo has undoubtedly earned the opportunity to test himself in the top flight, and West Ham should table an offer in the coming weeks.

Bowlers, Khawaja lead rout of Ireland

Ireland’s highest score in five meetings against Australia was not enough to even mildly challenge the top-ranked ODI side, who eased to victory with 19.5 overs to spare in a chase of 199

The Report by Firdose Moonda27-Sep-2016
Scorecard and ball-by-ball details Adam Zampa’s spell of 3 for 37 saw him become the leading ODI wicket-taker of the year•AFP

Ireland’s highest score in five meetings against Australia was not enough to even mildly challenge the top-ranked ODI side, who eased to victory with 19.5 overs to spare in a chase of 199. What will sting Ireland most is that they could have done much better. They squandered the chance to post a competitive total with a mid-innings collapse that took them from 121 for 2 to 146 for 6, and lost their last eight wickets for 77 runs. None of their batsmen touched 40 while the three batsmen Australia needed all scored more than that. Two of them, Usman Khawaja and Steven Smith, went on to score half-centuries to underline the difference.Adam Zampa was the pick of the Australian attack and spun webs around Ireland’s batsmen with his variations. Overall, though, the bowlers may have wanted a slightly better showing. Their seamers, particularly Mitchell Marsh, lacked venom, especially in the first half of the Ireland innings. It was only when the ball started reversing slightly later on that they regained control.Ireland started strongly after William Porterfield and Paul Stirling settled in against debutant Daniel Worrall and John Hastings. Stirling was particularly severe on Worrall and took three boundaries off his fifth over, the most eye-catching one being a straight hit back over the bowler’s head that almost went for six.The opening pair looked good for a half-century stand, but Stirling hit Scott Boland straight to the cover fielder to give Australia their first success. Porterfield could have been out in the next over when Marsh found a bottom-edge that was dying on Matthew Wade, who could not get forward in time. Porterfield was on 19 at the time and only added five more runs before missing a pull off a Zampa flipper that hit him low on the pad.Ireland’s best period came despite the several chances that John Anderson offered while batting. They made Marsh question his lengths and the bowler’s frustration only increased when he got Anderson to reach for one and edge to second slip, where there was no fielder to take the catch. Marsh was denied Anderson’s wicket again when he pulled to Boland at fine leg, but the catch was not cleanly taken. Anderson also survived an edge off John Hastings that fell short of Wade and amid all that, swept well and kept Ireland’s score ticking.Anderson’s luck ran out when he was given out lbw off Boland in the 24th over and Australia surged back in the next over. Gary Wilson was caught behind and, off the next ball, Sean Terry was caught unawares and was run out, leaving Ireland in free fall. Terry’s dismissal was Ireland’s most casual as he wandered out of his crease while Worrall was appealing for an lbw chance. Smith, at slip, spotted that and threw the ball onto the stumps to find Terry short of his ground. Ireland had lost three wickets for two runs at that stage, but still had Kevin O’Brien on hand. He did not have enough support, however, and eventually fell to a Zampa wrong ‘un, leaving Ireland in danger of falling short of 200 or not batting out the fifty overs.Australia’s response began rapidly. David Warner and Khawaja put on 54 in the first six overs as they took advantage of width offered by Peter Chase and Barry McCarthy, who should have had Khawaja out in the fourth over. Chase, running in from long leg, spilled the chance off a top-edge and Ireland were made to pay.Australia did not attack Tim Murtagh as much and he picked up the only wicket of the innings. Warner popped a cutter back to him and Murtagh took the catch above his head but did not celebrate the scalp. Khawaja and Smith put on 126 for the second wicket and were otherwise untroubled in their pursuit of runs.Smith took on George Dockrell and Khawaja’s fifty came off the left-arm spinner with a cut to the deep-point boundary. Smith brought up his half-century with a single off McCarthy.Ireland will leave South Africa disappointed. Although few expected them to win either of the two matches, the team failed to last a full innings against South Africa and Australia, fielded poorly and lacked clear plans with the ball.

Redmen TV Presenter Doesn’t Want "40m Star At Liverpool

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison wouldn't suit playing for Liverpool, according to The RedMenTv's Ste Hoare.

The England international has been linked with a move away from the Foxes, having suffered relegation to the Championship. And, according to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are in the race for his signature.

Are Liverpool interested in James Maddison?

Even though Liverpool are in the race to sign Maddison this summer, as per Jacobs, they are not alone in the pursuit of is signature.

According to John Cross of The Mirror, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United are also among the sides looking to sign Maddison this summer, who is valued at £40m, as per Cross.

Having scored 10 goals and assisted a further nine in the Premier League last season, Maddison's transfer links to big six clubs comes as little surprise.

The Englishman has more than proven that he is Premier League quality, and was one of the few bright sparks at the King Power Stadium last season, even as Leicester went down.

What did Ste Hoare say about James Maddison and Liverpool?

Speaking to Football FanCast, when asked about Maddison, The RedMenTV's Hoare said: "A lot of the other players don’t really fit the bill, system-wise, style-wise, profile-wise. I like Tyler Adams, I just don’t see it happening.

"The Maddison thing, he’s a number 10 and we just don’t play with number 10s. We’re going to sell [Fabio] Carvalho probably or loan him because he is a number 10. We don’t suit them. Again, I think Maddison’s a good player, but not a good Liverpool player."

How much does James Maddison earn?

james-maddison-newcastle-united-transfer-news-opinion-premier-league

With a number of clubs setting their sights on Maddison this summer, the question comes to the fore about just how much these clubs can expect to pay in wages for the midfielder.

According to Salary Sport, Maddison's current Leicester City contract sees him earn a staggering £110k-per-week.

Given that only Curtis Jones, Stefan Bajcetic, and Harvey Elliott earn less than that in Liverpool's midfield, this is a deal that would not really disrupt the Reds' wage bill.

Having just spent a reported £35m on Alexis Mac Allister, however, the Merseyside club may be hesitant to splash out even further for another player in a similar role this summer.

Wherever Maddison does end up, he certainly has the quality to improve a side, despite failing to keep Leicester afloat even after 19 Premier League goal involvements last season.
