O Corinthians chegou a 68 pontos no sábado, ao bater o Avaí por 1 a 0, em Itaquera, e abriu 10 pontos de gordura graças ao empate entre Grêmio e Vitória (1 a 1), no Rio Grande do Sul. Se vencer o Flu, o Timão chegará a 71 pontos e não poderá mais ser alcançado. O Santos, que joga na segunda, contra a Chapecoense, em Chapecó, só pode ir a 71, mas neste cenário não iria superar as 21 vitórias do líder. Peixe tem 15 hoje. O Palmeiras, em terceiro lugar, não pode mais superar os 69 pontos.

Caso não vença o Flu, mesmo que o Grêmio empate com o São Paulo antes, o Corinthians terá de esperar para confirmar a taça. Dependeria de um empate do Palmeiras, na quinta, em casa, contra o Sport neste cenário – a situação do Santos depende ainda do término da 34ª rodada. Fato é que mais três pontos, em qualquer rodada, resolvem o hepta do Timão.

Corinthians e Flu jogam às 21h45 desta quarta, em Itaquera. Grêmio e São Paulo duelam mais cedo, às 19h30, em Porto Alegre.

O zagueiro Lucas Veríssimo passou a segunda parte de 2018 sofrendo com lesões. Porém, após a recuperação, em março deste ano, o jogador voltou a ter boas atuações e tem se firmado como titular no Santos.

Entre Copa do Brasil e Campeonato Brasilerio, Veríssimo engatou uma sequência de seis jogos como titular. O defensor atuou contra Grêmio, Fluminense, CSA, Vasco, Atlético-MG e Palmeiras.

Veríssimo também parece ter a confiança do técnico Jorge Sampaoli. Admirador do esquema com três zagueiros, o argentino utilizou somente dois defensores contra o Vasco. Quem saiu da equipe foi o defensor Felipe Aguilar, que pôde se recuperar de um desgaste físico.

HISTÓRICO
Formado nas categorias de base do Timão, Oya iniciou a carreira no clube paulista pelo sub-12. Em 2017 foi campeão da Copa São Paulo, sendo um dos destaques da competição. Na última Copinha, participou de todos os jogos e marcou sete gols. A estreia como profissional veio na partida contra o Ituano, em março deste ano, pelo Campeonato Paulista.

Tottenham Hotspur are proving to be tough competition in the race for the signature of Fiorentina striker Dušan Vlahović and are considered to be ahead of other prospective suitors, as per Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness).

The Lowdown

Over the course of the past year, the Serbian striker has been linked with a myriad of clubs. The 21-year-old prospect has received widespread attention across Europe after scoring 15 goals in 17 Serie A games this season, and former Manchester City ace Stevan Jovetić has even been quoted saying that “he will be the best striker of the next few years with Erling Haaland”.

The Serbia international’s contract in Florence is set to expire in the summer of 2023. This means that the Serie A club may be forced to sell him by next summer if they want to avoid the possibility of him leaving on a free transfer the following year.

Despite him having a current market value of £45m, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso will demand a fee of at least €70m (£59.5m) for Vlahović in the January transfer window.

The Latest

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Tottenham are proving to be tough competition in the race for Vlahović’s signature, and they are considered to be above other contenders in their pursuit of the 21-year-old, or ‘above all’ as the report put it.

Italian duo Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are believed to have identified the Fiorentina attacker as the perfect addition to the Spurs squad.

Tottenham face competition from Juventus, who have also targeted Vlahović in their search of a new number nine. It is reported that Spurs have a vastly superior budget to the Turin club, which could prove to be the deciding factor if the player is allowed to leave in the January transfer window.

The Verdict

With Harry Kane having scored just one Premier League goal in 13 games this season, it may be essential that Tottenham bring in a striker to bolster their attacking options in their bid for Champions League qualification.

Vlahović could be the answer to Conte’s Kane dilemma, with the Serbian netting a goal in every 101 minutes this season.

However, despite this encouraging report, it could be difficult for Spurs to secure the services of the prolific Serbian striker, as a number of European giants are set to battle it out for the player. Also, the likes of Juventus can offer him Champions League football, a selling point that Tottenham don’t have.

Nepal captain Paras Khadka has said that his team will play the same brand of cricket against Bangladesh which earned them an 80-run win over Hong Kong

Nepal will face Bangladesh on Tuesday evening, but the two teams go back a long way, all the way back to 1996 when Nepal played their first ever cricket match, when both of them were Associate Nations. During the ACC Trophy in Kuala Lumpur that year, Nepal lost to their World T20 Group A opponents by a margin of a faster run-rate.Their paths have crossed at other levels of cricket: Under-15s, Under-17s, Under-19s, Under-21s, their women’s teams as well as the blind cricket teams of the two nations. But that ACC Trophy game was of utmost significance as it happened 50 years after the Cricket Association of Nepal was formed, and started their journey.Paras Khadka was too young to remember the particulars of that game but like most cricket fans in Nepal, they have followed the Bangladesh team on TV.”We have watched every player on TV and now we are playing against them,” Khadka said. “So we are looking forward to it. We get all the TV channels that you get here. More than pressure, it is an opportunity. We should not be thinking too much about being explosive. We should take it nice and slow, build it up.”Their 80-run win over Hong Kong in their World T20 debut was widely followed back home. Large crowds gathered in Durbar Squares in the capital Kathmandu, while the result was the front-page lead in several newspapers.On Tuesday, they will have another opportunity to gather their fans in front of large screens when they take on Bangladesh in their second Group A game in Chittagong.Khadka said that one of the biggest motivations for the team had been the support from back home, here in Chittagong and from the Nepal fans everywhere.”I think that (the fans) will be the next cover photo on my Facebook page,” Khadka said. “It was amazing, the kind of response we are getting back home. I think we have had this from the time we have qualified for this tournament. The interest has always been there, it is not that we have qualified and people are following us.”Every time we play in our home ground, there are 15-20,000 people who support us. People getting into a square and watching the game, such photos really motivates us to do better. The biggest factor for all our cricketers is for the fan following and passion. So we want to do well for the people and ourselves.”But the Nepal team hardly had the time to celebrate their win over Hong Kong, and Khadka added that they treated it like any other win over their Associate opponents. “There was no party. By the time we reached the hotel it was midnight. I think it is more about being happy to do well.”We have been playing against Hong Kong regularly, so it was another win. Of course it came in our debut match, but we didn’t want to be too overjoyed. We want to continue from what we have done yesterday and move forward.”Khadka is impressive on and off the field, and is perhaps the perfect ambassador for cricket in Nepal. He led the team very well against Hong Kong and has now stressed on the need for his players to play the same brand of cricket, against much stronger opponents. He is confident that they will play more comfortably, and will be geared up for a good contest.”We will play the cricket that we know. We can’t change anything. We are here to compete. We are not here for participation. Everybody is keen to do well. The nervousness of the World T20 debut is gone. Uma equipe é obrigada a liberar um jogador quando o período de data Fifa está ativo. Nesse caso, o espaço para jogos de seleção começa no dia 6 de maio – ou seja, o Fluminense pode, oficialmente, segurar a convocação de Pedro até esta data.

O dia, porém, representa a metade do Torneio de Toulon, que acaba apenas no dia 15 de junho. Desta forma, caberia a André Jardine, treinador da Seleção, em contar com um jogador com o torneio em andamento. O Fluminense ainda não acenou com nenhum pedido de liberação formal de Pedro junto à CBF.
