Após quatro jogos fora de casa, o Corinthians volta a atuar em sua Arena nesta quarta-feira, contra o Independiente (ARG), pela Libertadores da América. E o volante Gabriel confia em um “clima gostoso” no estádio para o Timão superar a equipe argentina.

Gabriel ressaltou a importância de jogar na Arena Corinthians e lembrou que na última segunda-feira o clube divulgou que já haviam sido vendidos 32 mil ingressos. Após o confronto com o Independiente, o Timão ainda tem mais três partidas em casa na sequência.

– É importante pelo fato de estarmos perto das nossas famílias e dos torcedores. O Corinthians faz valer o fator casa na grande maioria dos jogos. E tem a questão de concentração, alimentação, não ter que viajar para lá e para cá. É cansativo. Jogamos na Argentina (vitória por 2 a 0 sobre o Independiente), no Paraná (goleada por 4 a 0 sobre o Paraná), Salvador (empate por 0 a 0 com o Vitória) e depois Minas Gerais (derrota por 1 a 0 para o Atlético-MG). Acaba sendo desgastante. Mas sabíamos disso, e não usamos como desculpa. Apesar de tudo, conseguimos grandes resultados nessa maratona. Agora é virar a chave, tem a Libertadores pela frente, já foram vendidos mais de 32 mil ingressos, vai estar um clima gostoso e nossa torcida vai nos ajudar como sempre foi para ir em busca da classificação, que é o objetivo traçado pela comissão – afirmou Gabriel, em entrevista coletiva nesta terça-feira.

– A vitória é fundamental, sim. Como eu disse, temos a nossa força em casa, uma equipe qualificada, e a vitória é o ideal. Conseguimos uma grande vitória lá na Argentina. Sabemos que ainda temos mais três jogos, temos que estar concentrados os 90 minutos. O Independiente tem qualidade, toca bem a bola e tem jogadores perigosos. Temos que pressionar no momento certo para vencer e sair praticamente classificado – acrescentou o volante.

Michael Hussey began his 2011 IPL season by wading into Royal Challengers Bangalore’s attack in an innings that was reminiscent of his famous assault on Pakistan in the 2010 World Twenty20. Chennai Super Kings flexed their top-order muscle around Hussey’s enterprise to power their way to 183, and the lack of Paul Valthaty-esque intent in Bangalore’s chase meant they ran out easy winners. Bangalore’s batting once again suffered from muddled thinking after their fielding fell apart in a rash of schoolboy errors. To make matters worse, their support bowlers bled 101 runs off nine overs, wasting the efforts of Zaheer Khan, Daniel Vettori and Virat Kohli, who bowled the remaining 11 for 82.Facing a tough chase, Bangalore tried a pinch-hitter at No. 3 for the second game running. Walking in after Tillakaratne Dilshan’s early dismissal, Asad Pathan began by smearing two fours and a six off Albie Morkel, but departed attempting a hare-brained scoop against Tim Southee. AB de Villiers then batted with needless caution, much like he had against Mumbai Indians, and Bangalore suffered once again. They made only 113 runs in the 16 overs following Pathan’s attack of Morkel. Kohli could not pick up enough singles, Saurabh Tiwary could not hit boundaries, and Cheteshwar Pujara holed out under pressure. de Villiers eventually opened up against Southee and took 15 runs from the 18th over, but by then the required-rate was above 18 and it was too late to spoil the Chepauk crowd’s evening.Chennai’s celebrations were set up by Hussey’s brilliance with the bat. Crouching low at the crease, with feet ready to scramble forward or back depending on the lengths, Hussey preyed on leg-stump offerings with his signature sweeps, pulls and lashes. Eight of his eleven boundaries came through the on side, four of those through square leg. On the rare occasions when the ball was angled across, he slammed powerful cover drives or steered cheekily towards third man. Throughout his effort, he ran like the wind, making a mockery of his age, and the typically oppressive Chennai afternoon.Bangalore’s fielders were switched off right from the outset. Only two boundaries came in the first four overs, one courtesy an M Vijay paddle that went straight through short fine-leg. There were more bloopers to follow, strangely from fielders with good reputations. Cheteshwar Pujara threw needlessly from point to gift an overthrow, before Mohammad Kaif – one of the best fielders to have represented India – clanged a regulation chance from Hussey at mid-off.That was the cue for Chennai to shift gears. Vijay blasted two fours and a six off Johan van der Wath, before Hussey slapped Tillakaratne Dilshan for consecutive boundaries to ignite Chennai’s charge. Ryan Ninan dismissed Vijay a ball after being lofted for a six, but Suresh Raina stepped in seamlessly. He steered van der Wath to third man, before plundering Ninan in the 11th over for a couple of fours and a six through the straight field. He fell attempting another big hit, but by then Chennai were galloping along.Kohli and Vettori slipped in three quiet overs, before Hussey broke loose in the 15th. Vettori’s exemplary spell was ruined by his last two balls, off which Hussey looted 10 runs to reach his 50 off 42 balls. He proceeded to shred Kohli for fours through square on either side of the wicket before MS Dhoni sledgehammered Zaheer for an emphatic straight six in the 17th over. Zaheer dismissed Dhoni with his next ball, in the process cutting his side’s losses by at least 15 runs. It, however, made no impact on the end result.

O Botafogo passou sufoco nos minutos finais contra o Audax Italiano (CHI), nesta quarta-feira, em um jogo que parecia decidido. The absence of several senior players for the upcoming tour of the West Indies provides an ideal platform for fringe players to shine on the international stage, Suresh Raina, India’s captain for the limited-overs leg of the Caribbean tour, has said.”It’s a great opportunity for the youngsters who have done well in domestic cricket,” Raina told the media ahead of the team’s departure for the West Indies. “I am happy with the side, as we have some very good batsmen in Rohit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary, S Badrinath and Shikhar Dhawan, all of whom have done well in first-class cricket.”Raina, has led a similarly second-string Indian side in the past, for a tri-series Zimbabwe in May-June 2010, though India performed poorly on that tour, losing both matches against the hosts and one against Sri Lanka.This time, India are without the services of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Zaheer Khan, who have all been rested, in addition to the ill Yuvraj Singh, and the injured duo of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir for the lone Twenty20 and the five ODIs that follow. In Cardiff last week, England’s captain Andrew Strauss spoke of how his team had “created their own intensity” to snatch victory on the final day of a match that seemed to have been destined for a draw. Any hopes of a repeat performance in the second Test at Lord’s, however, were shattered – quite literally – by an incident involving Matt Prior, a pane of glass and an injured female spectator.There were other factors that contributed to the sedate finish, of course – not least the solidity of Sri Lanka’s batting, with Tharanga Paranavitana once again displaying his adhesive qualities at the top of the order. But as Strauss admitted at the close of play, the embarrassment of the incident, and the knowledge that it could have been more serious, scuppered any hopes England might have had of replicating the focus that proved so irresistible in the first Test.Prior, who made a century in England’s first innings, was annoyed after being run out for 4 second-time around, as his side chased quick runs before declaring on 335 for 7, a lead of 342. But as he returned to the England dressing-room, he took off his kit in a manner that led, apparently accidentally, to the breaking of one of the windows overlooking the benches in front of the pavilion, and a small cut on the ankle for a female spectator sitting below.The circumstances of the breakage, however, were shrouded in confusion. According to the original explanation from the ECB, Prior threw his batting gloves across the dressing-room towards his kit bag, but accidentally dislodged a row of bats that had been propped up in front of the window. Soon afterwards, however, the ECB admitted that there may have been some “misinformation”, and a subsequent statement, citing Andy Flower, who had been present in the dressing-room, explained that Prior had placed his bat on the ledge by the window, but the handle had bounced off the wall into the pane.As it happens, Strauss himself offered a third version of events when he spoke to the press after the match, when he said that Prior’s bat had bounced off another bat into the window. Small discrepancies, maybe, but it all helped contribute to a ridiculous scenario whereby England’s off-field behaviour was under more scrutiny than their on-field efforts to win the match.Strauss’s initial reaction to the incident, caught on Sky’s cameras, was one of visible disapproval as he shook his head in disgust, and though he later conceded it was a genuine accident, he wasn’t exactly pleased with what had gone on. “It’s not a great situation really,” he said. “I’m not going to be encouraging my players to be breaking windows in a hurry.”We’re always annoyed when we get out, especially when we get run out. But I don’t think that was the reason the window broke,” he added. “It was an unfortunate thing, and important that he apologised to the people down below – because it potentially could have been quite dangerous. But it wasn’t something that was intentional, and we hope we won’t see it again.”According to an eye-witness, the lady who suffered the injury was an MCC Associate member from Ireland, who was making her first visit to the pavilion. She was treated at the scene by the England doctor, and reportedly bore no grudge when Strauss accompanied Prior downstairs to issue the apology.The incident revived memories of Ricky Ponting’s fit of pique during the World Cup in Ahmedabad in March, when he broke a television screen following his run-out for 28 against Zimbabwe. Ponting’s excuse was that he had thrown his groin protector into his kit-bag, only for it to bounce up into the corner of the screen. He received a reprimand from the ICC as a result, but as far as England are concerned, this case is closed already.Nevertheless, the incident had the effect of cooling England’s ardour as they set about fielding for the final 58 overs of the match, with Prior himself – usually a vocal presence behind the stumps – understandably subdued afterwards. Four years ago against India, he was caught in the centre of a similar row involving jelly beans, a trivial incident on the face of it, but one from which his reputation took years to recover. There’s no suggestion that he will be similarly pilloried for this episode, but he would not be human if it wasn’t on his mind.”I think he felt pretty contrite about it,” said Strauss. “I don’t think he quite realised at the time that there were people below him. Then suddenly when it hit home and you think about what could happen it hits you pretty hard. He wanted to go down there and apologise – it was the right thing to do – and thankfully no one was seriously injured. I think they appreciated the fact that he apologised.”

وكانت لجنة الكرة بنادي البنك الأهلي قد قررت برئاسة اللواء أشرف نصار، توجيه الشكر لحلمي طولان المدير الفني وجهازه المعاون على ما قدموه خلال الفترة الماضية.

وقال حلمي طولان في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “المحور”: “هناك مجموعة من اللاعبين في الفريق (متدلعة ومدللة) منذ سنتين ونصف، وتسببت في مشاكل كثيرة جدًا، (ناقص تنزل الملعب ببزازة)، البنك الأهلي ينقصه الكثير في الجانب الاحترافي والبدني، وفوجئت بكمية (دلع وطبطبة وأحضان وهزار) غير عادية، هناك مجموعة لا تريد الالتزام والنظام في الملعب”.

وأضاف: “يوجد لاعبون في الفريق كانوا يأتون إلى التدريبات وهم يسيرون ويبدأون بربط الأحذية وآخرون لا يحبون الانضباط”.

وأوضح: “بعض لاعبي البنك الأهلي تعمدوا الإطاحة بي بمساعدة أشخاص داخل النادي، والبعض في الجهاز الفني كان يبلغ اللاعبين أن الجهاز الفني سيرحل بعد مباراة المقاولون العرب”.

وواصل: “كنت أحاسب بالمباراة والدليل أن الإدارة قررت رحيلي قبل مباراة المقاولون العرب ثم قرروا عودتي وتمت محاسبتي بالمباراة، العشوائية موجوده في الإدارة وكذلك دلع بعض اللاعبين المتحكم الأول في البنك الأهلي وهذا ساهم في رحيلي، وأبلغت المشرف على الكرة بالبنك الأهلي تخلصوا من (السوس والقاذورات) داخل النادي”.

وأكد: “لن أغير أسلوبي التدريبي الصارم مع اللاعب المصري، (نمرود ولو سبته هيركب)، المبالغ الرهيبة التي يحصل عليها اللاعب تغير من سلوكياته بشكل كبير جدًا، وكذلك الأمر الإعلام يغير من سلوكيات اللاعبين بشكل كبير، اللاعب كان يحصل على 30 ألف جنيه وبعد ذلك يحصل على 6 ملايين جنيه، بالطبع سيتغير”.

وأردف: “ما حدث من بعض لاعبي البنك الأهلي في مباراة الداخلية والمقاولون العرب عار على الكرة المصرية، والكل كان يعلم أننا سنرحل بعد المباراة، هذه التجربة أتمنى أن أمحيها من ذاكرتي وتاريخي التدريبي”.

وأكمل: “لا كرامة لعالم في وطنه، وأكبر دليل على ذلك كل ما حدث مع المدربين المصريين الذين تولوا تدريب منتخب مصر، لا أسعى لتدريب المنتخب ولم أحزن على عدم تولي مسؤولية المنتخب”.

واستطرد: “حازم إمام وعامر حسين عرضا علي تدريب منتخب مصر الأولمبي وبمقابل مالي كبير ورفضت، وتوليت المسؤولية الفنية للمنتخب الأولمبي في وقت سابق فبدلاً من أن ترشحني لمنتخب مصر الأول ترشحني للمنتخب الأولمبي؟، أحد أبنائي تولى المهمة الفنية لمنتخب مصر، وأنا كرجل أكبر يتولى المهمة الفنية للمنتخب الأولمبي؟”.

واختتم: “سألوني في النادي الأهلي عن جون إيبوكا وقلت لهم إنه مهاجم رائع، يمتلك مميزات كثيرة جدًا، إيبوكا من الجانب البدني قوي جدًا، قادر على الاستلام تحت ضغط، قدمه قوية جدًا ومهاجم تقليدي رقم 9، خضع للاختبار في إنبي لمدة شهر قبل التعاقد معه، حتى اقتنعنا به أنا والجهاز الفني، وتعاقدنا معه بشكل حر”.
