49ers now convincing coach to drop his wages and join Rangers, they're confident

Rangers could finally be closing in on a new manager and the 49ers have now reportedly set a new timeline in their pursuit of Shanghai Port boss Kevin Muscat.

Rohl drops out of Rangers manager race

It’s been a chaotic international break for those at Ibrox. They’ve watched on as the likes of Kevin Thelwell and the rest of the board have attempted to replace Russell Martin, who they made the shortest-serving manager in the club’s history after sacking him just 123 days in.

It looked as though it could be Steven Gerrard – he was certainly their leading candidate – before the Liverpool legend handed them the most frustrating rejection. And he’s not been the only one to withdraw from contention. As reported by Ben Jacobs, former Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl has also dropped out of the race to become the next Rangers manager.

It’s the second time that the 36-year-old has been up for the Ibrox job and the second time that the 49ers will be looking elsewhere. Whether they’ll regret not pushing for his signature will be the big question in the coming weeks.

Rohl’s decision has very much left the door wide open for other candidates. The likes of Graham Potter and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have been mentioned in the last week, for example, and may yet receive their chance.

That said, the current favourite to take the job remains Muscat and with the Gers set to return to action this weekend, the Gers have reportedly taken a key step towards his arrival.

Rangers set Muscat timeline

According to Football Insider, the 49ers now want to strike an agreement with Muscat in the next 48 hours. There is reportedly growing confidence at Rangers that the 52-year-old will be the next man to take the reins and talks are advancing, even though it will mean convincing him to take a pay cut.

However, it remains to be seen just when Muscat will take charge. As things stand, he’s still got four Chinese Super League games to play at Shanghai Port, who sit top of the tree and two points clear.

"Brilliant" former assistant to Hansi Flick wants to be Rangers manager – report

He’s eager to get going…

ByTom Cunningham Oct 15, 2025

On course to win silverware and end an era in style, the Rangers manager candidate may not be keen to take the reins until the current Chinese season ends in mid-November.

If that does prove to be the case, then Rangers will have to appoint an interim until Muscat is available next month, with Neil McCann thought to be the likely option. Given where they find themselves in the Scottish Premiership – 11 points behind shock leaders Hearts – more disruption is the last thing that the Gers need.

Nonetheless, Muscat remains the favourite and most likely to take the job now that Rohl has removed himself from contention. After failing to get the job ahead of Philippe Clement in 2023, the former Rangers player could now finally get his chance to step into the Ibrox dugout.

Rodgers hit gold on "intelligent" Celtic star who's worth more than Clark

While there are clear weaknesses in the current Celtic squad, Brendan Rodgers has a plethora of fantastic central midfield options.

As a result, club-record signing Arne Engels has started just three Premiership or European matches so far this season, while Paulo Bernardo has seen a miserly 185 minutes of action across all competitions.

Thus, it came as a surprise this week that Celtic are reportedly interested in spending big on a new midfielder, especially considering they struck gold by recruiting one new star whose estimated market value is even higher.

Latest on Celtic's interest in Bobby Clark

According to a report earlier this week, midfielder Bobby Clark is set to join Celtic for around £6m in January.

Should this come to fruition, he would become one of the most expensive signings in the club’s history, so who is he, and would he be worth the investment?

Well, after spells with Birmingham City and Newcastle, Clark joined Liverpool for £1.5m as a 16-year-old, making 14 appearances for the Reds’ first-team, scoring his first senior goal during a Europa League demolition of Sparta Prague at Anfield.

He also came off the bench during the 2024 EFL Cup triumph over Chelsea at Wembley, seeing 42 minutes of action, underlining that he was certainly highly-rated by Jürgen Klopp.

However, following the arrival of Arne Slot on Merseyside, he was sold to RB Salzburg for a whopping £10m, plus a 17.5% sell-on clause, following Klopp’s former assistant Pepijn Lijnders to Austria.

Well, this move to Wals-Siezenheim did not work out for either the player nor coach, with Lijnders sacked after less than 30 matches in charge, while Clark made just 25 appearances for the Red Bulls, his solitary goal coming against Austria Klagenfurt.

Now though, Clark is currently on loan at Derby County, a key figure in John Eustace’s team, starting five of the Rams’ last six EFL Championship fixtures, scoring his first goal for the club during a Carabao Cup victory at Burnley last month.

Still only 20 years old, he remains a player with plenty of potential, certainly highly-rated by Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout who praises his “amazing technical quality”, labelling him a “roaming playmaker”.

Market Movers

Football FanCast’s Market Movers series explores the changing landscape of the modern transfer market. How much is your club’s star player or biggest flop worth today?

However, this does not necessarily mean he would be a smart addition for Celtic, given their aforementioned array of options for the midfield positions, as well as the fact that that they just signed an even bigger talent.

The Celtic star worth even more than Bobby Clark

While plenty of Celtic’s summer signings have either been underwhelming or were left too late, the £1.7m paid to secure the signature of Benjamin Nygren back in June appears to be an absolute stroke of genius.

As the table below highlights, he has been, arguably, the Hoops’ best player so far this season.

As the table documents, Nygren ranks first for pretty much every attacking metric we could find among Celtic players this season, scoring four goals while also providing more assists than anybody else, as well as creating the most big chances, key passes and shot-creating actions.

The 24-year-old has been labelled “intelligent”, while Rodgers praised Nygren’s “excellent” performance following August’s victory at Aberdeen, in which he scored his first goal for the club.

He has instantaneously made himself a first-choice member of Rodgers’ team, starting all four European fixtures, as well as the first five Premiership matches, keeping the aforementioned Engels and Bernardo in reserve.

At 24 years old, Nygren has now made 195 senior club appearances, 107 of which came for previous club Nordsjælland, scoring 35 times for the Danish Superligaen side, including bagging a hat-trick against Fenerbahçe in the Conference League.

His time at Farum also caught the attention of recently sacked Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson, earning his first six senior international caps throughout 2025, scoring his first Blågult goal against Northern Ireland in Stockholm in March; not a bad way to mark your first-ever start for your country.

All of this has led to Football Transfers estimating that Nygren’s current market value is around £6m, 3.5 times more than Celtic paid for him, a value that is only set to increase.

For comparison, Clark has just 49 senior appearances to his name, and is valued at only £4.86m, around £1m less than RB Salzburg’s reported valuation.

Thus, given that plenty of other positions in the Celtic squad, most notably centre-forward, could do with some serious investment in January, the reported move for Clark makes little sense, with resources better served being allocated elsewhere.

Barcelona learn extent of 'serious' Pedri injury with star midfielder to miss Chelsea clash in Champions League

Barcelona’s injury crisis deepens as star midfielder Pedri suffers a distal hamstring tear, sidelining him for crucial fixtures including the Champions League clash against Chelsea. With Gavi, Raphinha and Andreas Christensen also out, coach Hansi Flick faces a mounting midfield crisis that threatens to derail Blaugrana's season before the year’s end.

Barcelona's injury crisis grows with Pedri out for a month

According to , Pedri has suffered a distal biceps femoris tear in his left thigh, a serious hamstring injury that will keep him sidelined for around a month. The 22-year-old, visibly exhausted in the latter stages of the El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid, was sent off late in the game and later diagnosed with the strain after medical assessments.

An official club statement read: “The first-team player Pedri has suffered a tear in the distal biceps femoris muscle in his left thigh. The player’s recovery will dictate his return to action.” The Spaniard will miss over a month of action, ruling him out of key fixtures against Elche, Club Brugge, Celta Vigo, Athletic Bilbao, Chelsea and, most likely, Atletico Madrid.

Pedri’s absence compounds Flick’s growing headache. The midfielder has been the engine of Barcelona’s midfield, starting all 13 competitive fixtures this season and logging more minutes than any other player in the squad. His combination of vision, balance, and precision passing has been central to Barcelona’s control-based game. But that workload now appears to have taken its toll. However, the injury break could be a blessing for Pedri as he can focus on his recovery after playing 41 consecutive games for Flick.

AdvertisementGetty Images SportBarca's mounting absentee list

This is not the first time Pedri’s body has signalled overload. Having also featured heavily for Spain’s national team during the recent World Cup qualifiers, fatigue and accumulated strain seem to have led to another setback.

Pedri’s injury pushes Barcelona’s casualty list to eight, including Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Dani Olmo, Joan Garcia, Christensen, Gavi and Marc-Andre ter Stegen. While the Polish striker is close to returning and may feature against Elche on Sunday, the rest remain uncertain. Olmo and Garcia have resumed light field work but are weeks away from full fitness.

The absences have ripped through the team’s structure, leaving Flick with limited midfield depth and forcing tactical improvisation. Youngsters Marc Casado, Marc Bernal and Fermin Lopez are now expected to shoulder key responsibilities. There are plans that Casado could slotted into a double pivot with Frenkie de Jong, while Eric Garcia is another makeshift option in defensive midfield.

It’s a grim picture for Flick, who has already seen his side slip five points behind Madrid in La Liga following defeats to Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain. Pedri’s loss now removes the team’s creative heartbeat just as the Catalan giants enter their most demanding phase of the season.

Flick’s tactical test and youth reliance

For Flick, Pedri’s injury could not have come at a worse time. The German coach, brought in to modernise Barcelona’s tempo and pressing structure, must now navigate a congested fixture list with a depleted squad.

Barca’s next three fixtures against Elche, Brugge and Vigo, will test the club’s depth and Flick’s flexibility. The coach is expected to retain a 4-2-3-1 setup, pairing De Jong with Casado in midfield while alternating between Marc Bernal and Lopez in the attacking roles. There’s also an increasing possibility of Flick giving minutes to academy prospects Dro Fernandez and Xavi Espart, both of whom have impressed with Barca Atletic. While fans await Lewandowski’s return to full match fitness, the reliance on youth mirrors the club’s longer-term plan but presents immediate risk.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford has stepped up for Barcelona during their recent injury crisis, providing crucial attacking depth and energy following the absences of key players like Raphinha. Since Barca's fixture against PSG, Rashford has notched two goals and three assists in the Champions League, taking his tally to four goals and two assists in the European competition quickly becoming a consistent threat in the final third.

Getty Images SportDefining period ahead for Flick and his men

The coming weeks may define Barcelona’s campaign. Beyond the Chelsea clash on November 25, the Catalans face Bilbao and Atleti. These clashes could turn out to be their season-defining fixtures, one that could decide whether they remain in contention across competitions. Flick’s challenge is to keep the team stable and bring steady results while also managing minutes for a squad on the brink of burnout.

The club medical staff have opted for a cautious rehabilitation plan for Pedri, prioritising full recovery over urgency, especially given his recurring muscle issues. If all goes well, he could return in mid-December, possibly for Barcelona’s Champions League group finale.

Nuno can fix Fullkrug blow by starting "electric" West Ham gem in new role

It would be something of an understatement to say that Nuno Espírito Santo has a monster job on his hands at West Ham United.

The East Londoners are currently sat in the relegation zone, and while they did fight back for a point away to Everton, they then lost 2-0 away at Arsenal.

Moreover, German international Niclas Füllkrug is now injured, and while he hasn’t been great for the club, it’s one less option for the manager.

Fortunately, there are some potential solutions to his absence in the squad, such as starting a promising talent in a new position.

How Fullkrug compares to recent West Ham flops

Despite going away for international duty, Füllkrug was promptly sent back to West Ham before Germany’s first game after it was discovered that he had torn his thigh while training with the Hammers.

While it’s clear that the 32-year-old is going to be out for some time, it’s less clear just how much time, with Nuno telling reporters on Friday that the club “are waiting for the results” of a scan to determine how severe the problem is.

Now, losing players to injury is always a problem, and having fewer options is only going to make life more difficult for the former Nottingham Forest boss.

However, it’s also true that the German international has been a massive disappointment since moving to the London Stadium.

For example, in 27 appearances for the Claret and Blue, totalling 1262 minutes, he has scored just three goals and provided two assists, which is an average of a goal involvement every 5.4 games, or every 252.4 minutes.

For comparison’s sake, Gianluca Scamacca, who many would consider to have been a poor signing, left the London Stadium with a tally of eight goals in 27 appearances, totalling 1342 minutes, which is a goal involvement every 3.37 games, or every 167.75 minutes.

Even Danny Ings, who was a flop, produced ten goal involvements in 69 appearances, totalling 2072 minutes.

While this resulted in a worse average of a goal involvement every 6.9 games, it led to a better average of 207.20 minutes per goal involvement.

In short, while losing the option of Füllkrug isn’t ideal, Nuno should be able to replace his output by playing someone else up top, someone who hasn’t played there for the club before.

The West Ham gem who could replace Füllkrug

There are a few potential solutions to Füllkrug’s injury, from starting Callum Wilson up top to moving Jarrod Bowen in from the wing.

Chalkboard

Football FanCast’s Chalkboard series presents a tactical discussion from around the global game.

However, the former has been no more impressive than the German, and moving the latter out of his favoured position seems counterintuitive.

Instead, Nuno could be bold and hand Luis Guilherme a rare start, and his first chance to play up top for the side. =

Now, it is true that the young Brazilian is primarily a winger, but as respected analyst Ben Mattinson points out, he is a “complete” and “electric” attacker and, before moving to West Ham, did play as a second striker on occasion for Palmeiras.

Moreover, while the youngster certainly doesn’t shoot enough, when he did take a shot during his time in Brazil, it was one “of a high calibre.”

Furthermore, one of Füllkrug’s biggest drawbacks is that he offers little to no mobility in attack, and if he’s not able to bring the ball down and allow the winger to run past him, he’s more of a hindrance than help in attacking situations.

That shouldn’t be the case with the Aracaju-born gem leading the line, as while he isn’t as physical, he’s fast, agile and could be a nightmare for opposition defenders to keep track of.

For example, Mattinson has described him as a player who “thrives on transitions” and can “can turn past players with ease” thanks to his “elite ball manipulation.”

Ultimately, it would be a gamble, but with few other standout options, starting Guilherme in the nine might be one worth taking for Nuno and West Ham.

Endrick sets important conditions for next club with Real Madrid forward planning January transfer to boost World Cup hopes

Real Madrid's young sensation Endrick might be on his way out of the Bernabeu in the upcoming transfer window. Xabi Alonso has reportedly approved a loan move but the 19-year-old has his eyes fixated on representing Brazil at next year's World Cup, and has created a set of deciding factors regarding which club he will join next.

  • Endrick on the move?

Having joined Madrid in 2024 on a six-year contract, Endrick featured 22 times in La Liga and nine times in the Champions League last term. He was Los Blancos' key player in the Copa del Rey campaign, where he produced five important goals in just six fixtures. However, cut to the 2025-26 season, and the Brazilian finds himself in a dilemma. With Alonso replacing Carlo Ancelotti this summer, Endrick has yet to feature for a single minute. Initially out with a hamstring injury before the Club World Cup, he is yet to return to action, and images of a clumsy Endrick warming the bench have also been viral on social media in recent times. At such a juncture, Madrid are planning to loan him out to make sure his potential is not wasted. Marseille were one of the interested parties, according to , but there is no haste from the club.

Endrick sets conditions for January move

According to the report, Endrick has set a few conditions, which will prove vital for his transfer. Firstly, he wants to play in the top European leagues – England, Spain, France, Italy, and Germany, to be precise, but might also consider Portuguese sides Benfica, Sporting CP and Porto. The team must also be a participant in continental competitions and preferably be fighting for domestic trophies. The ex-Palmeiras star would prefer a team with an attacking mindset that will play to his strengths. The Brazilian has represented his nation 14 times, scoring three goals, but in recent times, he has not been called up to the camp. The World Cup is around the corner, and Brazil have already qualified for the quadrennial event. At such a juncture, Endrick has made up his mind to find a new club in order to keep honing his skills and ensure a place in Ancelotti's squad.

  • Alonso changes his mind on teenager

While Alonso is now ready to sanction Endrick's move in January, he was not interested in any such deed a few days back. Recently, he had addressed the 19-year-old's situation, saying that the player needs to be patient. He said: "It's clear everyone wants to play. And a young player even more so. Given the context, we want to compete right now, and it's difficult depending on the match. He has to be patient, be prepared, and know that he's at Real Madrid. His time will come."

Which clubs are in the running?

While Marseille look at Endrick as a potential replacement for Amine Gouiri and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, since they'll be part of AFCON in early 2026, a report in says United are one of the Premier League teams eager to sign him in January. West Ham, Brighton, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also interested parties. Italian outfit Juventus are also keen for the Brazilian. However, there is no chance of him returning to Palmeiras, where he scored 21 goals in 82 games. As per , Real Sociedad could be a potential suitor for Endrick. While Sociedad are struggling in the attacking third, Madrid want the Brazilian to gain more experience in La Liga.

Alonso's team play their next game against Barcelona in La Liga on Sunday, and Endrick's participation is highly doubtful given he has not featured under the Spanish coach so far.

Fraser-McGurk dropped, Owen earns maiden Australia T20 call-up

Marsh returns as skipper while Cummins, Starc and Head are rested with Stoinis and Bartlett omitted

Alex Malcolm04-Jun-2025Jake Fraser-McGurk’s international career has reached an early crossroad after he was left out of Australia’s T20I squad to face West Indies in a five-match series in the Caribbean during July while Mitchell Owen’s star continues to rise after he earned his maiden national call-up.Marcus Stoinis and Xavier Bartlett have also been omitted from the 16-man squad while Cameron Green has been included as a specialist batter despite being unable to bowl until later in the year.Matthew Kuhnemann is in line to make his T20I debut as the second specialist spinner in the squad behind Adam Zampa. Josh Hazlewood is the only one of Australia’s three-format quicks who will not be rested for the series. Despite playing in the IPL final and being part of the World Test Championship final squad then the Test squad for the West Indies, Hazlewood will stay on to play the T20Is while Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc rest.Travis Head, who also plays all international formats and the IPL, will also rest for the series. All three could return for the three-match series against South Africa which starts in Darwin on August 10.Bump in the road for Fraser-McGurkFraser-McGurk, 23, was the most notable omission from the squad named for the series against West Indies that starts on July 20 in Jamaica immediately following the three-match Test series. He had played in seven of Australia’s last eight T20Is but had only passed 20 once, when he scored 50 off 31 balls against England last September batting at No. 3. In 19 T20s since then, including three T20Is against Pakistan, he has scored 290 runs at 15.26, striking at 136.15. He has two scores above 26 and one above 38, which was 95 off 46 in the final game of the BBL season. He was dropped by Delhi Capitals during the IPL season after scores of 1, 38, 0, 7, 0, and 9.Fraser-McGurk was seen as the man who would be David Warner’s immediate and permanent replacement in Australia’s T20I side but will now be asked to return to domestic and franchise cricket to work on his craft. ESPNcricinfo understands there is a hope from the CA hierarchy that he is able to play a bit more four-day cricket for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield to help him work on his all-round batting and decision-making to supplement his raw ball-striking ability.Owen, meanwhile, has been rewarded following his stunning BBL season by being named in the squad alongside T20I skipper Mitchell Marsh, who returns to captain the side after missing Australia’s last T20I series against Pakistan in November 2024 for paternity leave and Test preparation.Mitchell Owen made the equal fastest century in BBL history off 39 balls•Getty ImagesOwen scored two centuries for Hobart Hurricanes, including in the final to help them clinch their maiden title. His returns have been lean since then during stints in the SA20, PSL and IPL where he has scored just 116 runs in 11 innings with a highest score of 34.Owen’s BBL success for Hurricanes came at the top of the order but there will be a squeeze for positions, especially when Head is next in the squad. Marsh’s form while opening for Lucknow Super Giants may entice the selectors to bed him down alongside Head as the opening pair for the T20 World Cup next year with Josh Inglis looming as the obvious choice to bat at No. 3 given his impressive T20I record and his recent IPL form. Matthew Short also remains a key part of Australia’s top order plans and will return against West Indies having not played any cricket since injuring his quad in the Champions Trophy in late February.Question mark over StoinisOwen could get a chance in a finishing role given the intriguing absence of Stoinis, who has been a bedrock of Australia’s middle-order since the 2021 World Cup triumph and scored 61 not out of 27 balls in Australia’s most recent T20I against Pakistan. He also played an important role in Punjab Kings’ run to the IPL final.Stoinis retired from ODI cricket on the eve on the Champions Trophy but is still available for T20I cricket. However, he does not hold a central contract and has a deal to play in the Hundred in August which overlaps with Australia’s three T20Is against South Africa. The series in the Caribbean marks the beginning of Australia’s 2026 T20 World Cup preparation with the side set to play 16 T20Is in four series against West Indies, South Africa, New Zealand and India before the end of October.Josh Hazlewood will be part of the series while Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc are rested•ICC via Getty ImagesThere is a chance Stoinis remains in Australia’s T20I plans for the World Cup given they have limited seam-bowling allrounder stocks and could return for the series against New Zealand and India in October.Marsh is unlikely to bowl much if at all moving forward given his ongoing back issues while Green won’t be able to bowl in a T20 until after the Ashes series assuming his return to bowling from back surgery goes according to plan. Aaron Hardie has been included in Australia’s squad as the next seam-bowling allrounder while Owen could also be given a chance to fill a role with the ball but his experience is well shy of the other three.Bartlett has slipped down the bowling pecking order despite being centrally contracted after also being overlooked for the Champions Trophy in February. Nathan Ellis will lead the seam attack alongside Hazlewood in the absence of Cummins and Starc while Ben Dwarshuis, Sean Abbott and Spencer Johnson are also in the squad as they were in the Champions Trophy.Chair of selectors George Bailey reiterated that a number of the omissions could still make their way back into the squad ahead of the World Cup given the number of T20Is on the schedule over the coming months.”We have a busy T20 schedule coming up through this series, followed by three against South Africa and New Zealand and five matches against India at home as we continue to refine and build a squad we think will be the right fit for the World Cup on the subcontinent,” Bailey said. “There are a number of players outside the squad who can still force their way into the mix for those upcoming [series] and through the Big Bash.”The connection, role development and combinations we will have as options are growing nicely as we build towards the World Cup. It’s an exciting time in our T20 space.”Australia T20I squad vs West IndiesMitchell Marsh (capt), Sean Abbott, Cooper Connolly, Tim David, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Matt Kuhnemann, Glenn Maxwell, Mitch Owen, Matthew Short, Adam Zampa

How West Ham players really feel about Potter as "information" leaked from Rush Green

West Ham boss Graham Potter could have just this weekend’s game against Everton and their trip to Arsenal to save his job, according to reliable reports, following the Englishman’s uninspired spell in the London Stadium dugout thus far.

When Graham Potter could be sacked by West Ham

As per club insider ExWHUemployee, David Sullivan, Karren Brady and the Hammers board could decide to delay Potter’s dismissal until after their clash with Arsenal at the Emirates.

Despite the humongous pressure on Potter right now, great uncertainty surrounding his position and West Ham weighing up new managers behind-the-scenes, Ex suggests that Sullivan may hand the Englishman his P45 in and around the October international break.

This would give any new manager the chance to make a good start at home to Brentford on October 20 — not to mention a good few weeks to settle in and meet some of his new players.

The 50-year-old could even buy himself more time with a convincing performance against David Moyes’ Toffees at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but it would have to be a tremendous West Ham display to convince large sections of supporters that he’s still the right man to take them forward.

So far, the east Londoners have conceded more goals than any other side in the Premier League, with seven of their 13 concessions coming directly from corners.

Since Potter’s appointment in January, West Ham also have the worst overall Premier League record out of every single current side in the division, barring last year’s relegated trio.

Matters are desperate for the ex-Chelsea boss, and Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has now shared how the squad feel about their under-fire tactician.

How West Ham players really feel about Graham Potter

Speaking on a Sky broadcast, via West Ham Zone, Solhekol claims that, despite their poor start to the season, Potter retains the backing of most West Ham players.

He also reports that the mood around Rush Green is somehow “very positive”, with the squad “united” in getting back to winning ways.

Even if this is the case among Potter’s squad, it is exactly the opposite when it comes to West Ham’s fanbase, who are growing increasingly impatient.

West Ham face fan protests at every Saturday home game this season

As per The Telegraph, the divisive board face protests from supporters at every single Saturday home game this season, with the ‘broken promises’ made after West Ham’s move to the London Stadium viewed as key to their discontent.

West Ham’s Fan Advisory Board sent a letter of no confidence to the ownership recently, having failed to build upon Moyes’ historic Europa Conference League victory in 2023, which ended their 43-year wait for a major trophy.

That night in Prague also marked the club’s first European piece of silverware since 1965, but it’s only been downhill ever since then.

Potter is now the latest coach after Julen Lopetegui to bear the brunt of West Ham’s arguable mismanagement, and it is hard to see how any new manager can restore the positivity from Moyes’ era in charge any time soon.
